Second Semester Final
The first semester final was a learning experience for many students. They learned that practicing a little bit is not always what you need to remember especially when you are under pressure. We are going to discuss more about studying techniques this semester especially because the content gets much more complicated.
Our Second Semester Final will be the Final IXL Snapshot. To get an A, students will need to score a 700+ on their over all. 600-690 is a B. 500-590 is a C. 400-490 is a D, and anything below that is a failing grade. Most students in Pre-Al have been scoring at a 500 or better. For me to feel comfortable recommending 8th grade Algebra I, students need to be in the 700 range or 650 at the very least.
To check where your student is currently at simply log into IXL, then click assessment and the students rainbow star page comes up showing their over all score and scores in each category. It also shows what each student needs to work on and gives them suggestions. If students work on this regularly their scores will improve pretty quickly as well their memory of math skills long past and it will let them work well into high school math. Students can "step into the arena" any time they wish, this helps to unlock higher levels. This helps them practice for the Snapshot. During the Snapshot, all scores achieved before must be achieved during the Snapshot also.
